Before her speech at Somerville College later that day, our Club patron, Her Royal Highness Raja Zarith Sofiah, graced the members of the Club with her presence at a luncheon generously sponsored by St Anne’s College.

Members of OUMC were given the rare opportunity to sit and mingle with the Queen consort of Johor over finger foods and drinks in a friendly and casual setting. Conversations included the advocacy of greater use of English in Malaysia, scientific research and even HRH’s time in Oxford.

Present at the event was Senior Member Dato’ Dr Muhammad Afifi al-Akiti. Tim Gardam, Principal of St Anne’s College, was also present briefly to welcome HRH on behalf of the college.
