2013 Oxbridge Malaysia Games

Members of OUMC and CUMaS at the Master's Field, Jowett Walk celebrating the closing of the 2013 Oxbridge Malaysia Games.

The Oxford University Malaysia Club (OUMC) and the Cambridge University Malaysia Society (CUMaS) held their annual friendly sporting tournament this year on Sunday, 28 April. The University of Oxford had the honour of playing host to the Games.

The two societies went head-to-head in games of football, basketball, captain’s ball, ultimate, scrabble and lightning chess. The beautiful day began with a football match at the University Club, Mansfield Road. Lightning chess and scrabble were held shortly after at the Wolfson Room, Jowett Walk. After a satisfying lunch an ample opportunity to tour the majestic city of Oxford, the Games resumed with basketball and captain’s ball on the Jowett Walk hard court. The day concluded with ultimate on the Master’s Field at Jowett Walk.

Oxford won both lightning chess and basketball, but Cambridge emerged as the victor this year, having secured the other four events.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the 2013/14 committee at CUMaS who worked closely with us in planning this event. Our heartfelt gratitude also goes out to all the players, both from Oxford and Cambridge, who made this event a success.
